Romanian Government Scholarship 2022/2023 For Foreign Students

The Romanian Government Scholarship is a scholarship programme offered by the government through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs for international students. The scholarship is intended for non-EU students meaning those from EU countries are ineligible to apply for this scholarship.

About The Scholarship

According to After School Africa’s article, The scholarship is granted to three levels of studies namely Licenta which is for the first cycle, Masters for the 2nd cycle, and Doctorate for the third cycle. The table below contains detailed information about these levels:

Bachelor’s[First Cycle]Addressed to graduates of high school or pre-University studies that want to further their education in Romania. This is valid for 3 to years 6 years depending on the program you selected.
Master[Second Cycle]Issued to undergraduates and its validity ranges from 1 year to 1.5 years and 2 years.
Doctorate[Third Cycle]This is issued to graduate students and its validity ranges from 3 to 5 years. Admission is granted by an entrance examination and its ends with the presentation of Ph.D thesis.

Benefits Of The Scholarship

The Scholarship covers the following: tuition fees, accommodation expenses, and monthly financial aid[65 EURO for Undergraduate Students, 75EURO for Masters Students, and 85 EURO for Ph.D. Students]. This scholarship would not cover international transportation and those from the border crossing point to the institution.

Scholarship Requirements & Application Dates

The registration would commence on December 20, 2021, and end on March 15, 2022. The following would be required when filling out the application form:

  • Copies of the diplomas obtained (baccalaureate diploma or its equivalent, plus bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate degree, if applicable) and their authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Copies of transcripts of the completed studies and their authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Copy of the birth certificate (or an equivalent document) and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Copy of the first three pages of the passport or of the national document of identity and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Curriculum Vitae in English or French in the required format, and for the doctoral cycle also a letter of intent from the applicant in English, French, Spanish or Romanian.

The application will also include the following documents (only for candidates who belong to the specific category mentioned for each document):

  • Copy of the proof of name change (if applicable) and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Copy of the certificate proving the passing of the baccalaureate, bachelor’s or master’s exam, as the case may be, for graduates who do not hold yet the diploma and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Copy of the certificate proving that the person in the final year of studies is to take the graduation exam at the end of the school/university year and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Copy of the transcript attesting the academic record of the person in the final year of studies, until the moment of submitting the application file, and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Copy of the certificate of completion of the Romanian language preparatory year or the certificate of linguistic competence, if applicable.
  • Copy of the notarized declaration of parental consent in the case of candidates who have not reached the age of by the date of commencement of the courses and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
