The University of Nigeria, Nsukka is a federal university that was founded by Nnamdi Azikwe in 1995 and it was formally opened on 7th October 1960 and it presently has three(3) campuses. UNN is one of the oldest universities in Nigeria and it presently has seventeen(17) faculties and more than 102 departments which makes it one of the largest in Nigeria.

Faculty Of Agriculture

The faculty of Agriculture was created in October 1960 and it commenced lectures on 17th October 1960 and this was some days after the official opening of the University by the Princess Alexandra of Kent who represented Queen Elizabeth II at the Nigerian Independence celebration. Faculty Of Arts

The faculty of Arts was established in the year 1960 with six(6) departments of which two became the core departments of the institution. The motto for the faculty is Arts for living and the official portal for the website is The faculty presently has nine(9) departments namely:

Requirements For Faculty Of Arts

Interested applicants should possess or meet the following requirements below:

For a four(4) year programme

Candidates coming into the four-year programme must have obtained five Credits including English Language and any science subject as well as a Pass in Mathematics at WASC or GCE O/L or its equivalent.

For a three(3) Year Programme

Candidates coming into three year programme must have passed two papers in Higher School Certificate or GCE A/L  and have the minimum entry requirements of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka including a credit in English Language and a pass in Mathematics at WASC or GCE O/L or its equivalent.
Holders of Diploma or NCE recognized by the University of Nigeria also qualify for Direct Entry.

Students combining Archaeology with Science or the Social Sciences must satisfy the requirements in the respective faculties.

Faculty Of Basic Medical Sciences
